Minto Juried Art Show

The Minto Juried Art Show is an annual event in the Town of Minto. That takes place in May. It features artists from across Ontario and presents an incredibly diverse mix of mediums, styles, and subjects. This year promises to be no different.

 

We invite you to the awards reception at the Minto Arts Gallery in Harriston on May 8th, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The winners will be announced at 7:00 p.m.

Minto Juried Art Show – Awards Reception

The Minto Arts Council is thrilled to announce the eighth annual Minto Juried Art Show. The winners will be announced during the Awards Reception at the Minto Arts Gallery.

In addition to monetary prizes, participating in the Minto Juried Art Show is a significant honour, as the event is gaining more national recognition each year.

The awards reception will take place on May 8th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The winners will be revealed at 7 p.m. at the Minto Arts Gallery. Conveniently located at 88 Mill St., Harriston, on the upstairs level of the Harriston Public Library.

Conditions of Entry

1. This call for entry is open to all artists living in Ontario.
2. All works submitted must have been completed within the last five years and must be original works. Visual arts submissions can include either two or 3-dimensional art in multiple disciplines and mediums.
3. Due to limited available space in the gallery, the following dimensions are suggested:
• For two-dimensional pieces, the longest dimension should be no greater than 24 inches;
• For sculptures dimensions should be no greater than 36” H x 20” W x 20” D
4. Some consideration may be given to slightly larger pieces. However, this will be at the discretion of the Minto Arts Gallery and will depend on available space.
5. Please submit your entries as follows: a jpeg image via email [email protected]. A maximum of 3 works of art may be submitted per entry. JPEG files with a completed and signed entry form and entry fee must be sent to: [email protected]

6. A non-refundable fee of $30 for artwork entered (for a maximum of three works) must accompany the entry form. This will also cover your membership at the Minto Arts Council.

7. All entries must be received no later than 5:00 pm, April 4, 2025.
8. The Jury’s decision is final. No entry may be withdrawn once it has been accepted. Successful artists will be notified of the Jury’s decision by April 12, 2025.
9. All successful entries must be delivered, to the Minto Arts Gallery on:
Fri. Apr. 18 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sat. Apr. 19 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
10. All works must be ready for display. They must be framed and complete with wire and hooks.
11. Works must be picked up on May 31, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
12. The Minto Arts Council will only assume responsibility for loss or damage due to theft, fire, flood or vandalism while the work is at the Minto Arts Gallery. Minto Arts Council will provide essential Liability Insurance and does not provide insurance for works of art or other property belonging to the Artist(s) or Exhibitor(s).

If the Artist(s) or Exhibitor(s) require insurance, they must contact their insurer and arrange an appropriate rider to their own Insurance Policy.

Diane Morgan

Diane Morgan is originally from the UK but has spent the majority of her life living in Ontario Canada.  She creates fine art oil paintings and drawings with a passion for the subjects that have a personal connection to the artist. Diane Morgan is classically trained in the 19th Century French Academic style of drawing and painting by the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto and Boston.  Diane Morgan has also attended numerous workshops both in person and online in Europe and North America.  All this exposure to various teaching styles has inspired and influenced her enthusiasm for the old masters and the realism of today.  Her artwork is on display in the Wellington County Museum and in private collections, throughout North America and Asia.   Diane Morgan has also been published in the online Magazine Arabella Art & Architecture.  She has won numerous awards and special merits/honourable mentions in National and International Competitions.  Diane Morgan is also a member of the following associations:  OPA – Oil Painters of America, NOAPS – National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, Artists In Canada, Minto Arts Council and Guelph Arts Council.  She most recently was a Semi_Finalist in the ARC (Art Renewal Center) Salon Competition 2024/25 and a Finalist in the Strokes of Genius – Best of Drawing Competition 2024

1966 -1969: New School of Art, Toronto, Ontario
1970 – 1972: Under the Local Initiative Program, Toronto started art classes at the Princess Margaret Hospital, children’s classes.
1971: Art show at the Three Schools of Art
1974: Art show at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts
          art show at the KAA Gallery, Kensington Market.
1974: Canada Council grant
1975: Moved to Mount Forest
1978: started the art school, D Currie School of Fine Arts and continues to this day.

Dot divides her time between Mount Forest, Ontario and St.Rose, Cape Breton Island. Dot paints at her cabin on Cape Breton Island four months of the year and shows and sells her paintings through The Inverness Centre For thr Arts, Inverness CBI.
