Showing Emily at Big Film Fest on April 17th at th Norgan Theatre in Palmerston.

Showing Emily at Big Film Fest in April 2023. This is a biographical drama written and directed by Frances O’Connor in her directorial debut. That is focused on the life of the English poet Emily Brontë and the events related to her life.

Frances O’Connor’s film Emily engages in some really wild speculations in an attempt to get close to the fascinating Brontë, not just as a person but as an artist. The movie imagines the transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to womanhood of a rebel and a misfit. One of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers. Who died too soon at the age of 30.

With amazing acting from Emma Mackey and the always wonderful Fionn Whitehead as Branwell. This is a beautiful movie, despite it’s historical inaccuracies. Frances O’Connor has done herself proud with this wild, windswept romance. Which shows Emily to be the unique odd soul she really was. Don’t look for accuracy, just dive into the constantly raining world of Haworth and surrounds. A must see.

Emily premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. The Norgan Theatre in Palmerston is showing Emily at Big Film Fest on April 17th, at 7:15 pm. Admission $10.00.
