Anatomy of a Fall screens at BFF. On Monday, April 15, at 7:15 pm at the Norgan Theatre. Located on 275 Main Street West in Palmerston. The admission is $10.00.

Presented by Big Film Fest is “Anatomy of a Fall”. A clever and compelling European film about a writer who tries to prove her innocence after the unexpected death of her husband. Since its release the film has won lots of awards.

Anatomy of a Fall

The movie is not exactly a mystery, or a full-blown courtroom drama. It deals with the complexity of situations and language barriers. Our main character, originally from Germany, has trouble speaking French. The film slips in and out of English and French, making it a foreign-language movie.

Throughout the trial we gradually learn about the writer’s relationship with her husband. She shares personal information to prove her innocence. Including a secretly recorded audio during a heated moment. Giving us a better idea of their relationship. It’s a movie about trying to communicate what we feel and say to people who don’t seem to listen.

Sandra Hüller delivers a fantastic performance in the film. Portraying a complex character. One of the most memorable scenes is her fiery monologue. Additionally Milo Machado Graner gives a stellar child performance, and delivers a beautiful and devastating final speech toward the end of the movie. The entire cast’s acting is superb, including the family dog.

Both the directing and camera work are impressive. Every shot is well thought out and presented effectively. The script is tremendous, providing great dialogue and a plot that allows the actors to deliver a great performance.

This unique legal drama film is a must-see for everyone.
