Country Horizons – Painted In Oil By Vaughn Gillson is on display this February at the Minto Arts Gallery. Country Horizons is a collection of paintings that describes some of the rural expanses of Huron, Bruce, and Perth Counties and their agricultural foundations. The broad sweep of fields and surrounding natural habitats offers a tapestry of detail among blankets of abstract shapes. Texture and muted colours combine to define the patterns, surfaces and horizons of this beautiful part of Southwestern Ontario.
Most of the paintings were completed between 2017 and 2024, offering a contemporary perspective. However, a few were painted around 2000, showcasing historical features of the Maitland River at Fordwich. Additionally, a selection of studies adds further depth to the collection.
The exhibition runs from February 6th to 28th at the Minto Arts Gallery. The gallery is conveniently located on the 3rd floor of the Harriston Public Library.
Join us for the opening reception at the gallery on Thursday, February 6th. From 6:30 pm until 8 pm. Enjoy the art, meet the artist, and savour refreshments during this delightful evening.
