Who’s Yer Father is screening at Big Film Fest on Monday, January 15 at 7:15 pm at the Norgan Theatre. Located on 275 Main Street West in Palmerston. The admission is $10.00.
In the PEI-set crime-comedy caper, a down-on-his-luck private investigator (Chris Locke) is hired by Luke Thorne (Matt Wells), a rich businessman in the seafood industry, to investigate suspicious black-market lobster sales in Sandbar Cove. What Larry lacks in investigative skills, he makes up for in plucky optimism and enthusiasm. He takes the job and heads to the scenic rural community where he meets Rhonda (Susan Kent, This Hour Has 22 Minutes), a local convenience store clerk. When Larry and Rhonda discover a secret about Thorne’s wife, they hatch a plan to blackmail her and escape in pursuit of a new life together—but that plan quickly goes hysterically awry.
Full of regional accents and Maritime charm, Who’s Yer Father? boasts a witty script and genuine heart. This world premiere from Jeremy Larter (Pogey Beach, 2019), features some of Canada’s best comedic voices both in-front of and behind the camera, and is must-see viewing for anyone seeking a raucous night of laughs. —Kevin Chabot (AIFF)
Susan Kent won the David Renton Award for Outstanding Performance at The Atlantic International Film Festival in September 2023.
